About Brandon Gibson, Guest Speaker at “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” Dinner and Dance

Brandon Gibson

Although born in Baltimore, MD, Brandon Gibson certainly considers himself a native of Mobile. Gibson was born on February 2, 1989 and is the son of Leslie Gibson and Angela Pugh Johnson.

A talented and devoted athlete, he has always savored the joy of being a champion. Gibson was a tri-sport athlete at UMS-Wright where he was a member of state championship teams in football as well as track and field. As a junior wide received at UMS, Gibson was voted team MVP and then later named a permanent team captain for the Bulldogs. He was a top-five football recruit within the state of Alabama. A few short months prior to his high school graduation, Gibson signed a scholarship with the University of Alabama.

He began his undergraduate studies the summer immediately following high school graduation; he declared Public Relations as his major and Computer Science as his minor. He was a member of Nick Saban’s first recruiting class at the University of Alabama. Even as a freshman, his teammates and coaches recognized his character and knack for leadership. He was appointed by his coaches to be a member of the Peer Group, and appointed by his teammates to serve the team as a member of the Leadership Group.

During his career with the Crimson Tide, Gibson received several awards and accolades including Special Teams Player of the Year, the Jerry Duncan “I Like to Practice” Award, Charlie Campton Award, which recognizes Christian Leadership. In addition to the individual recognition awards, Gibson was also a member of the 2009 and 2011 National Championship Teams.

After completing his undergrad in 2010, he enrolled as a graduate student in Sports Management; he completed the graduate program in 2011. Because of the outstanding professionalism and overall positive impression he left on so many during his career with the Crimson Tide, Gibson’s job search was fortunately short-lived. He accepted a job as a medical device sales representative with Exactech and works primarily in Birmingham but is looking to expand the company’ reach to Tuscaloosa, which is where he still resides.
